RELIEVING PAIN, PROMOTING HEALING, RESTORING FUNCTION
Physical Therapy is for anyone who is dealing with disabilities that result in decreased range of motion, pain, decreased strength, and endurance. Our goal is to assist in relieving pain and discomfort, and to help you regain movement and restore function.
Our team motivates patients to work towards full recovery, or to help patients adapt to any permanent physical changes. Therapists use therapeutic exercise and manual mobilizations and modalities to restore normal joint mobility, relieve pain, restore function, and maximize independence.
In the hospital setting, physical therapists evaluate how an injury or disease process is affecting a person’s strength, mobility, flexibility, or endurance. Therapists work closely with the patient’s medical team (nursing, physician, social worker, case manager, etc.) to ensure that a patient is discharged appropriately. This may include recommendations for continued rehabilitation after discharge, at home or in a different type of medical facility such as a skilled nursing unit or rehabilitation unit. Additionally, an acute care physical therapist may recommend appropriate medical equipment or assistive devices, such as a walker, crutches, wheelchair, or a cane.
