On Monday, October 1, 2018 at 6:15 pm, the community is invited to join the Allen Cancer Care Center at Nanticoke and the City of Seaford for the annual Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Awareness Walk to “Turn Sussex Pink” and kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The walk brings community members together to honor breast cancer survivors and remember those who lost their battle with breast cancer.
The walk will kick off at 7:00 pm and will follow a three-block lighted path from the Allen Cancer Care Center at Nanticoke to Gateway Park, which will be decorated with pink lights and ribbons. The walk will end with a ceremony at Gateway Park that will include opening remarks, a proclamation, a presentation from a featured speaker, and an inspirational performance by a soloist. For more information about the walk or for help scheduling a mammogram, call Nanticoke’s Cancer Nurse Navigator at 302-629-6611, extension 3765.
The Allen Cancer Center at Nanticoke and the Mammography team at Nanticoke would like to remind you that the first sign of breast cancer usually shows up on a woman’s mammogram before it can be felt or any other symptoms are present. Nanticoke now offers 3D mammography which provides increased accuracy and leads to fewer callbacks. Please remember to schedule your mammogram and remind all women in your life to get their mammogram! For more information about 3D mammography at Nanticoke, visit www.nanticoke.org/mammo.
