The Nanticoke Health Foundation will host their 32nd annual golf tournament on Thursday, September 20 and Friday, September 21 at Heritage Shores in Bridgeville. Thursday’s tournament will be the Ladies Day and Friday’s tournament will be the traditional tournament open to men and women.
Participants will enjoy a fun-filled day at Heritage Shores, an Arthur Hills classic links-style course. Both days will consist of practice, 18-holes of golf, delicious food, and gross and net team prizes.
Proceeds from the tournaments will benefit the Nanticoke Health Foundation in support of the Allen Cancer Center at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. The Allen Cancer Center, accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, combines a loving environment with quality care delivered by a team of compassionate experts. The Allen Cancer Center treats patients living in Sussex County and surrounding areas, allowing them to receive life-saving cancer treatment in Seaford. The need for cancer services at Nanticoke continues to rise and the need for expansion is vital. The Cancer Center will embark on an expansion project that includes the infusion area, an on-site pharmacy and lab testing.
Your support will impact many lives within our communities and together we can make a difference, one stroke at a time. For more information, contact the Nanticoke Health Foundation at 302-536-5390 or FioriC@nanticoke.org.

Again this year, WBOC will host the Helicopter Ball Drop fundraiser. For this event, pre-numbered golf balls are sold to the public, loaded into Chopper 16, and then dropped onto the driving range of the Heritage Shores golf course at the start of the Open Day tournament on Friday, September 21st. The ball that lands in the hole first or is closest to the hole wins half of money collected. You do not need to be present to win.
Golf balls for the Helicopter Ball Drop are available for purchase online for $5.00 each or 3 for $10.00.
As the golfers prepare for their day of golf, they will travel past numerous golf ball-shaped signs recognizing loved ones of community members. These signs are part of the PINK Links program which allows community members to recognize loved ones and support the tournament at the same time. Community members can support the PINK Links program through a donation of $25. The pink golf ball-shaped signs are available to honor, memorialize or celebrate a loved one.
Additional avenues of support for the tournament including eagle, birdie and par levels of sponsorships can be purchased online. Sponsorship opportunities are available to both individuals and businesses.
