Tribute was paid on Thursday, November 13, 2014 to healthcare leaders. The Nanticoke Health Services Tributes for Healthcare Leadership awards individuals or organizations who have made significant contributions to the provision and improvement of healthcare in the communities of Western Sussex County.
The 10th annual Nanticoke Health Services Tributes for Healthcare Leadership dinner saluted this year’s honorees – Seaford Ladies Nine Hole Golf Association, recipient of the Charles C. Allen Jr. Leadership in Philanthropy Award; Founders Award recipient, Sharon B. Mears and Senator Robert L. Venables; and Physician Hall of Fame inductee, Dr. Donald T. Laurion.
Charles C. Allen, Jr. Leadership in Philanthropy
The Charles C. Allen, Jr. Philanthropy Award was awarded to the Seaford Ladies Nine Hole Golf Association. The Seaford Ladies Nine Hole Golf Association members have a passion and commitment to raise money for cancer care with the community. They have a lifetime giving amount of over $51,000 and that milestone has been achieved in only 4 years. The Seaford Ladies Nine Hole Golf Association’s passion is to assist Nanticoke Memorial Hospital’s Cancer Care in providing the very best in care for all its patients.
The Founders Award was presented to Sharon B. Mears and Senator Robert L. Venables, Sr. Mrs. Mears was recognized for her dedication and commitment to Nanticoke Health Services as a member of the Quality Professional Affairs Committee and formal member of the Board of Directors. Additionally, she has also been a longtime volunteer for the hospital as a member of the Nanticoke’s annual Dinner Auction, Golf Tournament and The Look-In Glass Shoppe. Senator Robert L. Venables, Sr., a lifelong resident of Laurel, Delaware, was honored for his lifetime of service and dedication to the growth and development of Nanticoke Health Services.
