Always Caring. Always Here.

During the month of October, Nanticoke Health Services hosted several activities to promote breast cancer awareness including their sixth annual Bling the Bra contest. Throughout the month, 10 “blinged-out” bra entries were displayed in the hallway next to the ER in the hospital where visitors voted for their favorite entries with monetary donations.

The winners of this year’s contest were announced on Thursday, November 7. First place was presented to “Spiderman/ Maryjane – Go See Your Friendly Neighborhood Physician” by Autum Johnson and the HIM/Medical Records Department, in honor of Thelma Meddings; second place was presented to “”Hocus Pocus – Casting A Spell For A Cure”  by the Registration Department; third place was presented to “Whichever You Like Best, We Still Need the Breast” by SSU; and honorable mention was presented to “Feel Your Cups” by NPN Admin & Billing, in honor of Inés, Martha, & Monserrat.

Nanticoke Health Services would like to thank everyone who submitted an entry and supported this year’s contest. Together, the contest raised a record-breaking total of $1712 to benefit Nanticoke’s Women’s Health Fund to help pay for mammography screenings for women in Western Sussex County who are uninsured, underinsured, or unable to meet co-payment requirements. The total raised for the combined past six years is over $6000.

Nanticoke Cancer Care Services and the Mammography team at Nanticoke would like to remind you that the first sign of breast cancer usually shows up on a woman’s mammogram before it can be felt or any other symptoms are present. Nanticoke now offers 3D mammography which provides increased accuracy and leads to fewer callbacks. Please remember to schedule your mammogram and remind all women in your life to get their mammogram. For more information about 3D mammography at Nanticoke, visit
