Nanticoke Health Services is pleased to announce that John “Jack” Jones, RN, has been named Nurse of the Month for September 2017.
Jack began his career at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital (NMH) in March 2015 as an orthopedic RN in the Specialty Surgical Unit (SSU). In 2001, Jack graduated with his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy with a minor in Religious Studies. He helped create a philosophy discussion program at Eastern Correctional Institution (ECI) that continues today as an accredited course through Salisbury University. In 2003, the ECI Prison Program received the Distinguished Honor Award by the Maryland Association for Higher Education. He continued on with his education and earned his Associate RN degree from Delaware Technical Community College in 2014.
During his time in SSU, Jack has used his knowledge and clinical skills to precept new hires and fill in as Relief Charge Nurse. He goes above and beyond to make the patient experience the best it can be. His director noted that he is “a diverse and educated young man with a wonderful heart to help others.” Jack is well-liked and is considered part of the SSU “family.”
Outside of his daily duties, Jack participates on both the Delaware Ethics Committee and NMH Ethics Committee. He is also very involved with Nanticoke’s Orthopedic Team, Education Team and has participated in the past on the Employee Engagement Committee. Jack is dedicated to SSU and Nanticoke, and is truly an asset to the healthcare profession.
During his free time, Jack enjoys classic adventure films such as “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” and enjoys English literature, his favorite book of all time being “The Catcher in the Rye”, a 1951 novel by J.D. Salinger.
