The community is invited to a vendor fair to help stock the shelves of the Healing Harvest inpatient food closet at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. The vendor fair, held at the Seaford Moose Lodge located at 22759 Bridgeville Highway, Seaford from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm on Saturday, November 17, 2018, is a great opportunity to get a head start on holiday shopping while supporting a great cause.
Numerous vendors will be participating in the event including LulaRoe, Mary Kay, Young Living, Pampered Chef, Thirty-One, Paparazzi, Posh, Scentsy, Vantel Pearls, Origami Owl, Tastefully Simple, and D Ann K Krafts.
Admission to the fair is one non-perishable food item that will be used to stock the shelves on the food closet. Examples of needed items include canned meat, box wheat pasta, canned pasta, canned fruit, canned vegetables, packaged dried fruits, canned milk and pop-top ready to eat canned food. You have the opportunity to be entered into a special drawing by donating at least three additional items.
The goal of Nanticoke Health Services’ Healing Harvest inpatient food closet is to stand in the gap for our food insecure patients. Patients who are admitted to the hospital are very sick. If they do not have food when they are discharged home, it makes it difficult for them to continue their recovery process. While many community food assistance programs already exist, it may take a patient recovering from a hospital stay a little time to connect to these resources. That’s where the Healing Harvest food closet steps in to help.
