Görgün Akpek , MD, MHS
Dr. Akpek is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology. He received his Doctor of Medicine from and completed both his residency in Internal Medicine and Clinical Fellowship in Medical Oncology at Hacettepe University School of Medicine in Ankara, Turkey. He also completed his Clinical Fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at Boston University Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts, and his Clinical and Research Fellowships in Bone Marrow Transplantation at Johns Hopkins University Department of Oncology. He is a member of the American Society of Hematology and the American Society of Blood and Marrow Transplantation.
Previously the director of stem cell transplantation and cell therapy at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois and Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center in Gilbert, Arizona, Dr. Akpek is nationally and internationally recognized for his research and clinical work specifically on hematologic malignancies and stem cell transplantation. At the Nanticoke Cancer Care Center, Dr. Akpek will treat patients with all types of cancers and hematologic (blood-related) diseases.
