When it comes to your heart – we don’t miss a beat!
Nanticoke Health Services offers comprehensive cardiac care for you and your family. Nanticoke includes an experienced team of cardiology physicians, cardiac nurses and specialized technicians.
In the Spring 2014, Nanticoke was among the first in the nation to perform Coronary Orbital Atherectomy. This procedure, commonly performed in the leg to clear blockages of the arteries, has only recently been approved by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) for use in the arteries of the heart. Nanticoke performed this procedure on its first patient in April 2014. The patient, who previously had little options to clear the blockages is doing well and now spends a great deal of time on the golf course with his friends.
Nanticoke Health Services received the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR ACTION Registry–GWTG Silver Performance Achievement Award in 2014 and the GWTG Platinum Performance Achievement Award for 2015. The award recognizes Nanticoke’s commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients and signifies that Nanticoke has reached an aggressive goal of treating these patients to standard levels of care as outlined by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association clinical guidelines and recommendations.
To receive the ACTION Registry–GWTG Platinum Performance Achievement Award, Nanticoke Memorial Hospital consistently followed the treatment guidelines in the ACTION Registry–GWTG Premier for eight consecutive quarters and met a performance standard of 90 percent for specific performance measures. Full participation in the registry engages hospitals in a robust quality improvement process using data to drive improvements in adherence to guideline recommendations and overall quality of care provided to heart attack patients.
